West Bloomfield 2020 DE Sterling Miles receives eight offers in 2019, updates what’s next

West Bloomfield 2020 DE Sterling Miles has been hot on the recruiting trail since the new year receiving eight offers in 2019.

The first seven of those offers were from MAC schools such as Western, Central, and Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Ball State.

Two days ago Miles received his first “Power five” offer from Washington State out of the Pac 12.

“Washington State came to my school a couple months ago and I’ve been communicating with Coach Brock who is the defensive ends coach there,” says Miles.

At first Miles was caught a little off guard but was relieved to get the offer.

“It did catch me off guard a little bit, but it’s humbling and nice to know my hard work is paying off.”

With a number of other schools knocking on Miles’ door he has plans on making some visits soon.

“I’ve been talking to Syracuse, Iowa, Iowa State, and Eastern Carolina. I plan on visiting Washington State soon along with Cincinnati, Toledo and maybe Indiana and Syracuse.”

Miles has no real timeline on his recruitment decision and wants to take it all in before making a decision.

“I have no intentions of rushing and making a decision I might not stick to, when I commit I want it to be a permanent decision.”

Miles holds ten offers from mostly MAC schools and is on the verge of getting several Power five offers.

Mt. Pleasant 2020 DE Tyler Huenmann sees recruitment pick up, plans on Junior Day visit to Michigan State

Mt. Pleasant 2020 DE Tyler Huenmann saw his recruitment first start in after his sophomore season when he was offered by home town Central Michigan last January.

A year later after a strong Junior season which saw Mt. Pleasant race out to a 10-0 record before falling in the playoffs, Huenmann has seen his recruitment start to pick up again gaining offers from Miami (OH) and Western Michigan in the last week.

“I’m excited it’s starting to pick up again. I had a year gap between my first offer and my second offer so it’s nice to see it pick up again,” says Huenmann.

Huenmann is certainly on the horizon for more offers as he sets up camps and combines to attend all while helping his high school basketball team to a perfect 14-0 record to start the year.

“I’ve been in contact with Michigan State, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Kentucky, Buffalo, Syracuse, Purdue, Indiana, and Bowling Green.”

“I have a Junior Day set up at Michigan State for the 17th, and a practice at Western Michigan is being set up soon,” says Huenmann. “I am also planing on attending The D Zone combine in March.”

Huenmann is big mobile prospect that plays offense and defense for his high school and is listed at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds according to Rivals.

Belleville 2022 DB Myles Rowser receives second MAC offer from CMU, plans on visit soon

Belleville 2022 DB Myles Rowser got some unexpected news Tuesday from Belleville Head Coach Jermain Crowell when he was offered his second offer from Central Michigan joining Western Michigan.

“Coach Crowell told me at the end of the school day I had gotten the offer, I was really shocked because I didn’t know I was on their radar,” says Rowser.

Along with Rowser the Chippewas offered fellow 2022 teammate Deshaun Lee and the two plan on visiting soon.

“Deshaun and I are both going to visit soon, I’m not sure when but we will. I’m excited to get up there and see the campus and meet all the coaches.”

Rowser was impressed with the Chippewas and thought of the offer as an honor because some of the players he knows going there in the class of 2019.

“I know a couple seniors going there next year like Lew (Nichols), so it was cool the coaches thought enough of me as an athlete to offer me.”

On top of racking up college offers, and attending combines and camps Rowser has stayed busy.

“I’m focused on improving my speed and strength. I want to dominate next year. I also have been really busy with school taking ACT prep and getting ready for AP classes.”

Rowser has been all over the place this winter receiving an invite to Next Gen All-American “The Show” recently. He will be at “R1SE” at Legacy Center in Brighton Saturday.

Zeeland East makes history, looks to make more this postseason

Since 2005 when Zeeland Public Schools broke into two school, Zeeland East and Zeeland West, West has been dominant winning six district championships and three state championships all well East had one district championship in 2010.

If that doesn’t hurt enough West has had a 10-7 advantage in the series including a win in the playoffs last year after the Chix beat them in the regular season and that’s what made Friday nights District Championship all the more important for The Chix, especially for 2019 MSU commit Adam Berghorst.

“Friday night was a huge win over a rival,” Berghorst says about the Chix 42-24 win over the Dux. “I thought we played really against their ‘Wing T’ offense and our O-line played well to spring our running game all night.”

Last year West knocked out East in districts and since Berghorst has been in High School the schools were 2-2 against each other which got moved to 3-2 Friday.

“It felt amazing! We’ve had this on our minds all through workouts and practices,” says Berghorst. “It felt like we deserved to win, and I’m super proud of my team.”

Berghorst and Zeeland East (10-1) will now host Parma Western (10-1) with both schools looking to win their first Regional Championships.

“We’re going to be playing a more traditional spread offense team which I am excited about,” says Berghorst. “It will be my last game at Zeeland Stadium which will also be bitter sweet!”

Zeeland East takes on Parma Western at 7:30 Friday night at Zeeland Stadium.

Dearborn 2020 ATH Tommy Guajardo sets up visit to Syracuse, hearing from several power 5 schools

Dearborn 2020 ATH Tommy Guajardo will visit Syracuse this weekend as they host UCONN.

The Dearborn junior has been off to a great start leading the Pioneers 2-2 start which matches their win total all of last year. Their two losses also came to Division 2 State Runner-Up last year in Livonia Franklin by three points and arguably the most talented team in the state in Belleville.

This will be Guajardo’s first time visiting Syracuse and he’s very excited to get out there.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the coaches seeing the facility and feeling the game day atmosphere at Syracuse,” says Guajardo.

The opportunity to play in the ACC or another power five conference is something that Guajardo expresses as a great opportunity.

“I really could see myself playing in the ACC, but I’ll play anywhere I get the chance.”

Syracuse has expressed interest and thinks Guajardo has some qualities you might not be able to teach.

“They love the way I come and stick people on film, and they think I have really good ball skills.”

Guajardo says there is no distance he won’t travel to find the perfect fit and will look into all of his options at the next level.

“I have offers from Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan. Other schools that have been in contact with me are Michigan State, Penn State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Miami (OH), and Western Michigan.”

Guajardo and the Pioneers take on 0-4 Livonia Stevenson on Friday.
