For a while Muskegon Star Cameron Martinez had trouble getting offers he thought he was capable of and deserved.
That all changed in the last five days. Martinez was offered by a handful of schools including Michigan State, Purdue, Minnesota, Bowling Green, and most recently Penn State.
Martinez is in the middle of basketball season at Muskegon High School so that will delay the timing of some of his visits but says he plans on taking a lot during the spring/summer.
“All the schools I’ve had contact with and got offers from I want to visit if possible,” said Martinez. “I want to look into all the possibilities for my future and the only way I can do that is if I visit.”
Martinez an “athlete” has been recruited primarily on defense but he is also one of the most electrifying playmakers in the country on offense and is a standout quarterback.
“Some of the MAC schools have talked about having me play QB. Indiana has talked about it too. Coach Dantonio and Michigan State likes how I threw the ball so we’ll see.”
Martinez has a team first attitude and it shows in his recruitment.
“It doesn’t matter to me what I play, whatever gets me on the field and helps my team win is what I want to do.”
Martinez a 3-Star recruit has mostly interest from MAC and Big Ten schools.
