Glen Lake 2019 TE Drew Peterson recently wrapped up a Senior Season which saw him help his team to a 5-5 record before getting knocked out in the first round of the Division 6 playoffs.
Peterson was also recently selected by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) as a 1st team All-State selection for Division 6 as well as the “Dream Team” which is a combination of every division in the state 1-8.
“I was very excited,” said Peterson. “It’s always been a dream to be 1st team for my division, and then getting the dream team was even better because I come from such a small school and I was selected with some guys committed to “Power 5″ schools which was cool. I hope it proves something to those big schools that guys at smaller schools can compete too.”
Peterson has six offers including Cornell, Morehead State, Findlay, Northwood, Saginaw Valley, and most recently Grand Valley where his older brother Cade Peterson is a freshman QB at.
“Grand Valley has a great football program and with Cade being there is an added bonus, but I don’t want people thinking I’m going there because of him. I need to do what’s best for me and he knows that. He’s been very supportive throughout the whole process and wants me to go to the school that fits me best.”
Peterson has also been in contact with some other schools who haven’t offered yet.
“Indianapolis has been in contact with me a lot. After the Grand Valley offer, coaches from Northern Iowa, South Dakota, and Illinois State followed me so we’ll see what comes from that. I was talking to Pittsburgh and Virginia a lot over the summer but it’s slowed down since they got commitments from other guys.”
Peterson has an official visit this Saturday at Saginaw Valley and has no other visits planned and may not take anymore unless he receives an offer somewhere before he commits.
