Oscar A. Carlson 2020 WR Ian Stewart had a very busy offseason.
Following a very successful sophomore campaign Stewart saw his recruitment sky rocket receiving offers from all around the country including Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, and Boston College.
Now Stewart looks forward to being back under those lights making plays for his team.
“I had a great summer and I got after it,” says Stewart. “I’ve been having dreams about putting on those pads for a week now and I’m not kidding. I’m excited. We have something to prove to everyone this year.”
The recruiting process is sometimes an exhausting obstacle for athletes and Stewart has gotten away from it a little bit now that his season is coming up.
“It’s good to get away from all of it not having to think about it as much.”
With the recruitment being the way that it is for Stewart he comes into the season with a mark on his back but says he handles it just like he would any other season.
“I wouldn’t say I like the added pressure of being highly recruited but it doesn’t bother me, I just go out and play. I have a couple goals for the season since I’m playing QB/RB I want to rush for 1,000 yards and have 80+ tackles on defense.”
Stewart says so far no offer has stood out to him and he’s taking the recruiting process slow.
Oscar A. Carlson opens their season at home Thursday (Aug. 23) against Woodhaven.
