West Bloomfield 2020 LB Cornell Wheeler visited Michigan State twice last season and came away with a lot of valuable experience on recruiting but no offer yet.
Since last fall though Wheeler has picked up steam in recruiting getting offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota and Michigan among others but a Michigan State offer tomorrow when he visits may change things for him.
“I can truly see myself playing there,” says Wheeler. “MSU is exciting to me because of the coaching staff, campus, fans, and most definitely the education.”
At West Bloomfield with other highly recruited prospects Wheeler fits right in and often jokes with teammates about where he might end up.
“Sometimes Tre (MSU commit) and Lance (PSU commit) fight over me,” Wheeler laughs. “They say ‘Go Green’ or ‘Go Penn State’, but it’s all in fun. They want me to go where I’m needed and they’ll be happy for me wherever I’m at.”
Another player trying to recruit Wheeler is Belleville’s 2020 DB Andre Seldon who is a Michigan commit.
“I had a good time this last weekend at the U of M BBQ and Andre and I have a real nice relationship. We always talk about what it would be like to play together.”
For tomorrow Wheeler plans on focusing on Michigan State and hopefully earning an offer.
“I want to even better strengthen my relationship with MSU coaches and hoping I can get an offer. I truly could see myself playing there.”
Wheeler alsonoted how well Michigan State is Recruiting the 2019 class.
“That 2019 class they have right now is stacked. They have a lot of nice players, things are good at MSU.”
Wheeler is a 3 Star LB and will visit tomorrow with teammates Tre Mosley (2019) Makari Paige (2020) and Donovan Edwards (2021)
