Michigan and Ohio State have always been rivals on the football field as the two schools meet up annually in a clash in the last week of the regular season in what is often referred to as “The Game.”
For upcoming recruits they may have the option to play in “The Game” but for some with offers from both schools must choose if they’ll be repping Maize and Blue in Ann Arbor or Scarlet and Gray in Columbus in late November.
This past weekend some major recruits got to experience what it might be like suiting up in that game.
The day before the Michigan BBQ in Ann Arbor, Ohio State dropped the hammer down on two East Kentwood star lineman Bryce Mostella and Dallas Fincher both with Michigan offers and are teammates with 2019 Michigan commit Mazi Smith were offered by Ohio State Friday night. Mostella was rumored as one of the likely recruits to commit over the weekend as he has been noted before as making Michigan a top school but with the Ohio State offer the Buckeyes May have at least delayed his decision.
Another player who made the trip down to Columbus and then Ann Arbor is Bay City Central 2020 WR Devell Washington. Washington was offered by both schools in the last couple months and continues to weigh his options but seems to really enjoy Ohio State.
Finally there was one in-State player who turned down the Big House all together but made a trip to Columbus and that’s 2020 4 Star WR Rashawn Williams. Williams has offers from both schools but turning down the offer and going to Columbus makes it even more likely that’s where Williams is learning to at the moment.
For the prospects there’s still about a year and a half until National Signing Day but there’s already some great story lines for the athletes and one of the biggest rivalries in sports.
