2019 Southfield A&T DB Marcus Faqua recently committed to Buffalo last Saturday (June 23rd) becoming just the 3rd commitment for Buffalo with two of them coming from Michigan with Faqua and Detroit King’s LB Rich Miller.
“I’ve talked to Rich a little bit before I committed,” says Faqua. “I think we could play well together.”
Faqua fell in love with Buffalo and looks forward to his time in New York and living on his own outside of Michigan.
“Buffalo was perfect for my major and all the coaches there liked me,” says Faqua. “They’re on the rise out there and I’m excited to join them. As for moving to New York I think it will be good for me, I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and it’ll be nice to live in a different state, especially New York.”
The MAC conference is a big conference for high school prospects out of Michigan with schools like Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, and Central Michigan being in the state in the conference which always haul in many Michigan players, but Faqua is looking forward to the rivalry he’ll have and getting more Michigan guys in Buffalo.
“It’s going to be fun playing against my former teammates and friends. It’ll make for a good little rivalry and make some great memories for me. As for guys joining me, I know a couple guys I might try to get to come to Buffalo with me.”
Faqua like any recruit has his goals set high when he arrives in Buffalo in fall of 2019.
“I want to win MAC Championships and Bowl games. I want to be an All-American and learn all I can from a great coaching staff so I can get to the next level.”
Faqua is a 3 Star prospect ranked the 39th best prospect in Michigan according to Midwest Prep Lounge and picked Buffalo over some “bigger” schools such as Syracuse, Iowa State, and Temple.
