2019 Forest Hills Central ATH Tate Hallock committed to Michigan State on Friday night becoming the fifth in-state commit.
It didn’t take long for Hallock to decide where he would attend to play college football. A day after Hallock received his “dream offer” he announced his commitment to the Spartans.
“I was very excited to receive the offer from MSU,” says Hallock. “East Lansing is like home to me. I knew it’s where I belonged.”
The Hallock Family is full of Spartans as Tate’s older brother Tanner is currently a walk-on Sophomore and his dad Ty Hallock played for the Spartans from 1989-1992.
“My brother and my family just really kept me calm during the process, and helped me make the right decision. I really look forward to playing in the Big Ten with my brother again.”
Hallock is considered an “Athlete” where he can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball.
“I was offered as a safety but I can play linebacker and wide receiver as well.”
Hallock also has a good relationship with some other 2019 recruits for the Spartans, including fellow Grand Rapids area based Adam Berghorst.
“I’m close with Adam since we’re both from the area we know each other. I’ve started talking to Jase Bowen a little bit too.”
Hallock is a 3 Star who received offers from Cincinnati, Iowa State among others and is ranked 34th in the state of Michigan according to Midwest Prep Lounge.
