Avon Old Farms 2021 DE James Wilborn Jr. is going into his sophomore year at Avon Old Farms which is a boarding school in Connecticut although this will be his third year of high school.
“I spent my freshman year in Flint and I decided to transfer and it really did help me,” says Wilborn Jr. “It gave me another year to improve my game and it helped me improve academically as well.”
While Wilborn Jr. is here visiting family for the summer before he heads back to Connecticut in the fall he decided to take in a couple camps and came away with a big first offer from Michigan on Monday.
“I was shocked and amazed,” says Wilborn Jr. “I was not expecting it at all and Coach Harbaugh offered me himself. It’s a blessing to get the first offer out of the way. I cried knowing my parents won’t have to pay for any of my college education. It’s a dream come true.”
Wilborn Jr. has heard from several schools and is looking for more offers including Michigan State which he’ll be visiting tomorrow (June 21st) for their Rising Star Camp.
“I’m going to be visiting MSU tomorrow for their camp. A couple schools I’d like to hear from and get offers from are Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Nebraska, Clemson, and Georgia. There’s other schools too but those are just a few I can think of.”
As well as being a very talented football player Wilborn Jr. excels on the basketball court as well.
“I like basketball too, that’s actually how I ended up at Avon Old Farms. I truly don’t have a problem playing either sport at the next level. Whatever one takes me further and life and gives me the most success.”
Wilborn Jr. certainly has started his recruitment with a bang and is a player to keep a close eye on over the next three years.
