Traverse City Central 2019 QB Tobin Schwannecke has been a force on both the gridiron and basketball court the last couple years and has drawn Division 1 interest in both sports.
Schwannecke says he can see himself playing both sports at the next level if the opportunity presents itself.
“I have definitely thought about it. It would be awesome to do both and do something most kids can’t do.”
As for schools reaching out to him well the list is pretty long for Schwannecke.
“For football I’ve been hearing a lot from Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Cornell, Harvard, and Ferris State. For basketball Holy Cross, Lehigh, and Hillsdale.”
Although Schwannecke has no offers to report right now that is bound to change soon with a summer full of camps and a big senior senior coming.
“I have six or seven football camps in June including Grand valley, Northwestern, Michigan State, and an East coast trip to Harvard, Cornell, and Dartmouth. After that I have AAU basketball in July and then high school football starts in August so I’ll stay busy.”
Schwannecke has big plans for senior year and it’s starting to sink in that he’s finally a senior he says.
“You shocked me with that question, that’s the first time someone has referred to me as a senior. It’s crazy. As for what I want to accomplish I hope to repay all my coaches who believed in me and gave me a chance as a Student Athlete. We’ve built a winning culture here and I want to be remembered for being apart of that and being the greatest athlete and student I can be.”
Schwannecke will be attending the “Best of The Midwest Showcase” at Grand Valley State University tomorrow.
